The Aquila school, located in the newly developed Dubai Land, with an area of 25,000 and a capacity of 3200 students. The project, winner of design education project of the year – design middle east awards 2018, stands out with its design that combines functionality and high aesthetics aiming to ensure a continuous flow between internal and external spaces therefore enhancing the overall on-campus student experience.
The architectural design was based on creating semi-attached blocks to provide privacy for each educational level while maintaining an adequate amount of interaction between students through surrounding integrated social spaces. These blocks allow sufficient daylight and natural ventilation flow into classrooms among all parts of school through generous openings and a number of terraces on different floors. Connected by fully glazed bridge links, it maintains high transparency while emphasizing a strong relationship between indoor and outdoor. It also creates several pockets allowing for different outdoor play areas in addition to a number of sports fields that are distributed around the school building including a football pitch and basketball courts.
The main entrance is defined with an architectural focal point of a none-geometric, oval shape that is distinguished with perforated mesh cladding of Islamic mashrabiya pattern that adds up to the overall external image of the School.
The school building offers a wide variety of world-class facilities including a fully equipped auditorium, one senior and another junior sports hall, fitness center and dance studio.
